Spread the Red Education Game

The Lady Toppers played an unusual 11:30am weekday game yesterday against South Alabama. The catch? The bulk of the 7900 fans that filled Diddle Arena were under 5-foot tall and 9-years-old. In a unique arrangement with both the BG City Schools and Warren County Schools, all of the 1-5th grade students attended to cheer on the Toppers and Spread the Red for Education and learn about all the aspects of putting on and keeping up with basketball games.

The Potter College of Arts & Letters hosted a Fall Festival last week outside of FAC. There was a pumpkin carving contest (with power tools, no less) food, face painting, music and a dance contest. Autumn is the best season!

2010 Opening Convocation

Dr. Ransdell met with all the WKU faculty & staff yesterday morning for his annual Opening Convocation, where he had the opportunity to update the campus community on construction projects, budget concerns and the direction of WKU. We also heard from the new Provost, Gordon Emslie & new VP of Research, Gordon Baylis. For the last two weeks, I have been producing the large slideshow that ran in the background. You can download a copy of it here. Good luck this year Hilltoppers!

TAIKOPROJECT

WKU hosted the Japanese drumming group TAIKOPROJECT this week and they gave a fantastic performance last night at the Capitol Arts Center. The group, from Los Angeles, has also been seen recently on the Academy Awards show, drumming the music for Slumdog Millionaire.

TAIKOPROJECT visited through WKU’s Cultural Enhancement Series and the Campus Activities Board.
