Spread the Red Education Game

The Lady Toppers played an unusual 11:30am weekday game yesterday against South Alabama. The catch? The bulk of the 7900 fans that filled Diddle Arena were under 5-foot tall and 9-years-old. In a unique arrangement with both the BG City Schools and Warren County Schools, all of the 1-5th grade students attended to cheer on the Toppers and Spread the Red for Education and learn about all the aspects of putting on and keeping up with basketball games.

Football Panoramic

In addition to the timelapse and remote camera setup, we also carted the GigaPan down to the stadium for Saturday’s game. Bryan got the system set up & shot during the first quarter when the stadium was at it’s fullest. Zoom in and take a look… I found myself, maybe you’re in there as well! Take a snapshot and share with your friends!

WKU-Indiana Sunset

This is the best one yet! We set up this sequence early and let it run from 1pm to around 7:45 capturing the entire day of activity in Houchens-Smith Stadium. We were glad to see a full crowd and the weather was perfect! Enjoy!

WKU-Murray State

In the Hilltoppers’ last game before Christmas, WKU took on Murray State at Diddle Arena. It was a great fast-paced game that went down to the wire, with the Tops coming out on top 83-72.

WKU Football

In preparation for the 2009 football season, Bryan & I spent Wednesday and Thursday last week photographing a handful of the senior players for the gameday program covers. It was unbearably hot and humid but we came away with some killer images. All the players were great to work with and were up for anything we threw at them (literally). Good luck this season, guys! Here are my B&W versions.

WKU returns home

The Hilltoppers returned home from the NCAA Tournament Sunday after a last second heartbreaking loss to Gonzaga in Portland. Despite the early exit, dozens of fans turned out at the BG/WC Regional Airport to welcome them back.

Tops to the Big Dance

The Hilltoppers won the Sun Belt Tournament last week to guarantee them a spot in the NCAA Tournament… and we will be facing Illinois (again) in the first round in Portland, Oregon, tomorrow. The team had a huge Sunday Selection party at Diddle and flew out yesterday amid much fanfare.

If we make it to the Sweet 16, I might be able to shoot the game! Keep your fingers crossed! 😉

KHSAA Sweet 16

The KHSAA Girls’ Sweet 16 high school basketball tournament was held last week here at Diddle Arena with some of the largest crowds ever. Congrats to all the teams!

The WKU Hilltoppers paid a visit to UK on Saturday for a first-ever meeting between the teams. Commonwealth Stadium was filled to capacity to watch the Hilltoppers continue their transition into Division 1A football.

It was great to get back on the sidelines… it’s been too long since my last football game. Great to see old friends and co-workers, too.
