Bottom of Hill from Cravens Library

Bottom of Hill from Cravens Library

I have 2 more GigaPan images to post and a third is stitching now. The first two are similar views, but from different angles looking towards the south end of campus at the bottom of the hill. The panorama system is very intriguing… there is so much detail to explore on campus and the surrounding community. Look around, take a few snapshots and enjoy!

Gigalicious!

I am super excited to premiere the university’s first gigapixel image! We just got our GigaPan EPIC robotic camera mount and I had the opportunity to setup our first shot from atop Houchens-Smith Stadium looking north, up the Hill. The resolution is amazing! This image is a compilation of 160 photos into one large, 51,000×9800 pixel panorama. So take a peek around, zoom in and find the minute details in everyday life. We will produce more of these throughout the year and post them often.

VAMPY Camp

The last couple of weeks we hosted the VAMPY Camp through the Center for Gifted Studies which involved a three-week immersion in a particular class. I was able to photograph the theater, forensic chemistry and computer science classes. The VAMPY (Verbally and Mathematically Precocious Youth) Camp brings in some of the brightest students in the Commonwealth. It’s a great program that has been ongoing since 1984 and is a cooperative effort with the Duke Talent Identification Program.
